Calibration is the process of measuring which values a measuring device can achieve under specified conditions. During a secondary calibration, the measured values are compared with so-called reference standards. Primary calibrations, on the other hand, refer to a verified physical primary quantity.
Calibration is the process of determining the output values of a measuring device as a reaction to a specific excitation. If you want to measure something, you should know the exact properties of your measuring equipment and be sure that your measurement results are comparable with the measurements of third parties. For this purpose the measuring instrument must be traced back to a national standard. This traceability is regulated and secured by the calibration hierarchy. A calibrated measuring device ensures:
If you want your measuring device to perform accurate and comparable measurements, your equipment needs to be regularly calibrated in an accredited laboratory. Or you can perform calibration yourself with a traceable system.
As a result of calibration, a DAkkS calibration certificate (calibration according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025) or factory calibration certificate, will be issued. Calibration certificates issued by an accredited laboratory are recognized internationally in the framework of ISO 9000.
Certifications are an advantage for companies and customers alike. Global and traceable requirements for quality management and processes help us:
Accreditation
In the hierarchy of metrological infrastructure of industrial metrology accredited laboratories are second priority - right after the National Institutes which provide the national reference for the country. Calibration certificates from DAkkS-accredited laboratories are internationally recognized, for example by signatories of the Convention of the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) for the mutual recognition of calibration certificates.
ISO 9001:2008 certification
Quality management standards of the DIN EN ISO 9000 build the basis for quality assurance and quality management worldwide. They are also the most widely used standard work of ISO (International Organization for Standardization). Nationally and internationally enterprises of all sizes and industries take a DIN EN ISO 9001 certified quality management system as an ideal proof of competence and performance. SPEKTRA is certified by TÜV Süd according to DIN EN ISO 9001.
Approved exporter
As an approved exporter, SPEKTRA holds an authorization for simplified declaration of origin, issued by the main customs office. This means that we may use customs agreements between the European Union and third countries, which often means customs savings and a simplified export procedure to many countries.
Does your measuring equipment function properly? How can you guarantee the quality of the measurements and keep them at a high level? A regular calibration of your equipment by an accredited calibration laboratory provides answers to these questions.
Following a professional calibration, a conformity statement is usually required. This provides information about whether the measured values are within or outside the specification limit (tolerance)?
You, as the owner of a calibration object, can decide for yourself how to proceed with the conformity statement. You can find more information on conformity statements in our white paper.
